NZXT where's the support?
Hi all, if you have found this blog through a google search. well then you are in the same predicament as me. after buying the NZXT 510i i was impressed with my initial experience. i then decided to swap out the top and back fans with rgb fans (plus quieter fans).
my search yielded conflicting results on what rgb fans would work. i did order and try Corsair ML120 pro fans, but they did not work with smart device v2. should have google the fan model first to see if anyone had issue's getting the rgb to work. so i'll take that as a lesson to always search before i buy to make sure things work as expected.
so then i accept i need to buy the over priced AER rgb fans (double the price in Canada compared to most others). My fans come and then the job of installing them, this part i enjoy. wait maybe this is the part that frustrates me. how do you connect everything? fans, rgb, smart device v2? after a quick search on google i was no further ahead, so i then search for a few more hours, still no further ahead. i then came across a reddit post and thought i was onto something. with this new knowledge I disconnected the computer, move it to my work bench and began to connect and organize the wiring. So i have the fan power connect to the fan power on the smart device, i then used the wires that came with the AER fans and connected the fans together (out to the in) as the label says on the fan. then connected the top fan to the LED 2 on the smart device. i was so excited, wires were tucked away all neat, case was back together, now i just needed to put back in place and connect all the cables. i power up my machine to only find that the RGB on the fans are not working.
So i email NZXT, i ask if there is a guide or clearer instructions on how to setup the RGB with smart device v2.
Here's the reply "yes it will work"
that's it, that's all get.
with all that said, i encourage all users looking to buy a new case to skip over NZXT, as the case may be good looking, it's just makeup cause under neath it's just ugly. no support, no guides, no help after purchase.
consider yourself warned, NZXT just wants to sell products but offers very little support or documentation on setup.
Say no to NZXT!!!!!

Follow up, let me first say i know support is slow because of covid. so 4 days with no responce is normal in these times.
ReplyDeletewhat i have tried is using an older cam software 3.7.8
my fan rgb now works, well kinda. The rgb is now on but i'm unable to change anything on channel 2. that part is grayed out. but at least i see i have a channel 2. so the fans use what ever channel 1 is set too. also if i turn off the rgb on channel 1, my fans rgb turns off.
i have updated NZXT support to add the new info, so this could also be slowing them down to respond.
